TikTok Shop creator violations: what creators and brands need to know

TikTok Shop scores US creators with a Creator Health Rating and can remove e-commerce permissions after repeated violations of the same policy. This guide covers the thresholds, the 6-in-90-days rule, appeals, and how a creator record and a shop record affect each other.

Key points

  • Under the current Creator Enforcement Policy, committing the same policy violation 6 times within 90 days can lead to immediate removal of a creator's e-commerce permissions and frozen commissions, whatever the creator's score.
  • On the Creator Health Rating, falling to 150, 100 or 50 points blocks shoppable videos, LIVEs and Product Showcase additions for 3, 7 or 14 days, and 0 points can mean permanent loss of e-commerce permissions.
  • Milestone enforcement actions cannot be appealed; other creator violations allow one appeal within 30 days.
  • When a shop is deactivated, its bound Official and Marketing accounts may lose e-commerce permissions, while affiliate creators are affected through the end of affiliate collaborations.
  • Medical Claims and Weight Management are both named repeat-violation categories, so one risky phrase reused across many videos can add up quickly.

The 6-violations-in-90-days rule

Creators who commit the same policy violation 6 times within a 90-day period may have their e-commerce permissions removed immediately, and their commissions frozen
Source: TikTok Shop · Creator Enforcement Policy

The sentence continues that this applies regardless of the creator's Creator Health Rating points. A healthy score does not protect a creator who keeps repeating the same violation.

The Creator Enforcement Policy names the repeat violations it has in mind: Misleading Promotions, Low Quality Content, Weight Management, Medical Claims and Unoriginal Content. The Creator and Content Policy Guide repeats the list and adds Irrelevant Promotion and Non-Engaging Content.

The policy does not explain how violations are counted beyond "the same policy violation". In our reading, the practical risk is reusing one risky claim across many videos, since each video can draw its own violation.

Creator Health Rating thresholds

The Creator Health Rating (CHR) is a 0–1,000 score for creator accounts. Violations deduct points, and at set thresholds TikTok Shop may apply milestone enforcement actions:

CHR scoreShoppable contentCampaigns
150 and belowNo new shoppable videos, LIVEs or Product Showcase additions for 3 daysNot eligible
100 and belowThe same restrictions for 7 daysNot eligible
50 and belowThe same restrictions for 14 daysNot eligible
0E-commerce creator permissions may be permanently removedNot applicable

First-time warnings do not affect the CHR, and violations of TikTok's Community Guidelines alone do not affect it either, although they can still lead to video removal. TikTok does not publish a full points table; one published example is the Prohibited Behavior Policy launched in August 2026, which lists a 24-point CHR deduction and a 60-day commission freeze.

Appeals and frozen commissions

Appeals are not accepted for milestone enforcement actions.
Source: TikTok Shop · Creator Enforcement Policy
  • One appeal per violation, within 30 days, submitted from the Violations section of your Creator Health Rating page.
  • Decision: TikTok aims to decide within 7 business days, and the decision is final.
  • Language: appeal documents and authorization letters must be submitted in English.
If an appeal is not submitted on time or it gets denied, the frozen commissions may be forfeited.

If the appeal is approved, the freeze may be lifted. ByeRisk does not write or file appeals. If wording caused the violation, fix the same phrase in your drafts and scheduled videos before they go live.

How creator and shop records affect each other

Official Accounts are directly tied to a seller's shop, and Marketing Accounts are used for promotion; both are "bound" to the shop. Affiliate creators who promote products through collaborations are a separate relationship. The official pages describe these links:

We found no official statement that an affiliate creator's content violation lowers the seller's Account Health Rating; the AHR violation groups do not list creator content.

Pre-publish checklist for creators

  • Keep spoken claims consistent with the product listing. TikTok's requirements for videos and LIVEs prohibit verbal claims that do not match the actual listing.
  • Remove disease claims, including euphemisms for a disease. See TikTok Shop medical claims.
  • Leave numbers, timelines, before-and-after body images and GLP-1 comparisons out of weight content. See the weight management policy.
  • Avoid phrases such as "100% effective", "Guaranteed results" and "No side effects", which TikTok lists as absolute or exaggerated language.
  • For an OTC drug, use only claims from the Drug Facts "Uses" section, and turn on Geo-Toggle before promoting it in a video or LIVE.
  • Turn on TikTok's commercial content disclosure toggle for branded content; promotion that earns a commission counts. See FTC influencer disclosure.
  • Check the script before filming. If TikTok's Video Pre-Check is available to you, run it on the finished video as well; its Auto-Post mode covers health-related policies.
Before

My doctor friend says this tea cured her anxiety.

After

This tea is part of my evening wind-down routine.

Why: Saying a product cured a condition is a medical claim, and TikTok also prohibits claims that a product will prevent or cure any wellness condition, even with a disclaimer. Describe how the product fits a routine instead.

Before

This serum erases wrinkles in 7 days, guaranteed.

After

I like how smooth and hydrated my skin looks with this serum.

Why: A guaranteed, time-bound result overpromises. A personal, appearance-based description keeps the selling point without a promise.

Before

No side effects, totally safe for everyone.

After

Patch test first and check the full ingredient list on the product page.

Why: TikTok lists "No side effects" as absolute or exaggerated language to avoid. Point viewers to the listing instead of making a safety guarantee.

Pre-publish checklist for brands and sellers

  • Give every creator a written brief with approved claims and phrases to avoid, based on the listing and the product label.
  • Make the listing compliant first; creators often repeat listing claims on camera.
  • Confirm the product may be promoted: dietary supplements are invite-only, weight-loss products and weight-management supplements are prohibited, and GLP-1 support products must not claim to act as, replace or enhance the medication.
  • Review affiliate scripts before filming, with extra attention to Medical Claims and Weight Management, the two health categories the Creator Enforcement Policy names.
  • Watch the Creator Health Rating of your bound Official and Marketing accounts. An EC ban on one of them can trigger a review of your shop.
  • Keep your shop's AHR away from 0. A shop deactivated for a policy violation can be disqualified from Affiliate Marketing, which can end every active collaboration.

What a content check cannot cover

A wording check reads scripts, captions and listings. It cannot judge whether footage is original or engaging, cannot cover anything said off-script during a LIVE, and cannot restore permissions or release frozen commissions. Claims written inside images are not read yet. To check a script now, use the TikTok Shop Claim Checker or, for LIVE, the TikTok LIVE Script Checker. TikTok makes the final decision on every violation.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if a creator repeats the same TikTok Shop violation 6 times?

Under the current Creator Enforcement Policy, committing the same policy violation 6 times within 90 days may lead to immediate removal of e-commerce permissions and frozen commissions, regardless of the creator's CHR points.

Can I appeal a CHR milestone restriction?

No. TikTok Shop does not accept appeals for milestone enforcement actions. Other creator violations can be appealed once, within 30 days.

How long do creator violation points last?

We cannot confirm it from a live page. The Creator Health Rating details page was unavailable when we reviewed sources on October 6, 2026, and the live Creator and Content Policy Guide does not state a reset period. Check the current page in TikTok Shop's creator policy center. Separately, the repeat-violation rule looks at a 90-day window regardless of the creator's points.

Will I get my frozen commissions back?

Only through the appeal process. If you appeal within 30 days and the appeal is approved, the freeze may be lifted. If you do not appeal in time, or the appeal is denied, the commissions may be forfeited.

If a shop I promote is deactivated, is my creator account banned?

Not automatically under the published policies. Bound Official and Marketing accounts may lose e-commerce permissions together with the shop. For affiliate creators, the shop may be disqualified from Affiliate Marketing and active collaborations may end.

Does a creator's violation affect the brand's shop?

We found no official statement that an affiliate's content violation lowers the seller's AHR. An EC ban on a bound Official or Marketing account can trigger a review of the seller, but it does not automatically deactivate the shop.
